Welcome to Ocelot Class



Ocelot Class is our mixed Reception and Year 1 class,

taught by Mrs Walker.

We are supported by;

Mrs Alcock and Mrs Wrixon.  

This half term we are learning:

This half-term, we are listening to and joining in with rhyme, songs and poems. We are also listening to a variety of stories and learning about story language. Our key text is 'Peace at Last' and we will be learning to tell this story, joining in with key phrases. We will be mark making for a variety of purposes and beginning to form letters as we learn them using the RWI phonics programme.


Our Year 1 children will be developing skills with place value within 10 and our Reception children will be matching, sorting, comparing size, mass and capacity and learning about pattern.

Understanding the World (YR)

Science, Geography, History (Y1)

Within our overall theme 'I am Special, I am Me' we will be talking about members of our family and community. Our science theme is 'Animals including Humans' and we will be naming and drawing various parts of our body and learning about which part of our body is associated with which sense. In History we will be talking about how our community has changed over the years. In Geography we will be talking about our local area and familiarising ourselves with maps. We will identify the four countries of the United Kingdom.


Religious Education

In RE we will be learning about God and The Creation story. We will be talking about how to care for our wonderful world. Our lessons will be using our lovely school grounds and our Mud Kitchen area.

Expressive Arts and Design (YR)

Art and Music (Y1)

This half-term, we will be developing our storylines in our pretend play, using templates and stencils, creating self-portraits using paint and completing some environmental artwork. In music we will be learning many Nursery Rhymes and learning about beat and rhythm. 

Physical Development (YR)

PE (Y1)

This half-term, we will are developing our skills in tag rugby and tennis. We are also using our trikes, building bricks and outside trim trail to develop our gross motor skills.


Relationships and Health Education (RHE)

This half-term we are learning about healthy relationships with our family and friends.
