Welcome to Puma Class page.
We are a mixed Year 2 and Year 3 class taught by Miss Ashby and supported by Miss Gudger.
Learning this half-term...
This half term we are developing our reading and writing skills through the narrative of Hansel and Gretel. Through using the Talk For Writing approach, the children create a tool kit of writing skills that supports them in writing their own innovated version of the story. We will also be looking at a non-fiction text, which will be linked to our topic theme of cities.
This half term we are focussing on place value and addition and subtraction. In our lessons we build on developing fluency by using concrete, pictorial and abstract representations.
We are currently learning about Materials. This includes identifying different every day materials, their uses and properties.
In PE we are learning the skills of tag ruby and tennis.
On our Friday afternoons we are learning: common meetings and greetings; how to introduce yourself; how to talk about your family; numbers to at least 10 and classroom instructions.
We are studying the big question 'who made the world?'
Through this, we are learning the Creation story and digging deeper to understand the meaning and expectations of how humans should look after the world.
In our DT lessons we are learning about healthy eating and what a varied diet is. Excitingly, we are going to finish this half term with baking a gingerbread house biscuit.
Relationships and Health Education (RHE)
In RHE we are learning about keeping safe in school and in society.
